Young sustainable grassland farmer of the year to host farm walk

On Wednesday, September 25 at 11am, Evan Hunt the winner of the Young Farmer Category of the Sustainable Grassland Farmer of the Year will host a Grass10 farm walk in recognition of winning the award in 2023.

Farming in partnership with his father John in Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo, the Hunt family milk a herd of 128 cows – moving up from 60-70 cows after entering a farm partnership in 2019.

It was through the completion of farm placements over the course of his studies in Ballyhaise College where Evan’s desire to follow a career in dairy farming was solidified. Since then and following the formation of the partnership, the Hunts have invested in farm infrastructure, soil fertility and reseeding, and general yard development to build a sustainable dairy farming business.

When and where?

The farm walk will take place on the farm of Evan Hunt, Tullycusheen, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo, Eircode: F91 WF21, on September 25 at 11am.
