BTYSTE award winners at the Teagasc stand

BTYSTE 2025

BTYSTE 2025 took place from 9-11 January. We invite visitors to visit the Teagasc stand at the 2025 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) where we had a range of hands-on displays throughout the exhibition covering a range of topics from across our Education, Advisory and Research directorates. 

Demonstrations and display across the three days included:

  • Integrating Forestry into Agriculture, Forestry Department, John Casey, Christian Fitzgerald, Michael Somers, Grace Jones, Tomas Byrne, Laura Guillardin, Noel Kennedy
  • Education at Teagasc, Gavin Fowler, John Mulhern and Ronán Mac Antsaoir
  • Grass to Plate: Exploring the Science of Flavour and Quality with Walsh Scholar, Sarah Kearney
  • Aphid Feast: The Plant Survival Game with Postdoctoral researcher, Marta Niedzicka
  • Epidemiology with Walsh Scholar Avelda Ferreira
  • Sensory Science: Making Sense of Perception with Walsh Scholar Emily Flanagan

Teagasc Prize

Teagasc sponsors a special award at the event. The Teagasc prize is awarded to the project that best demonstrates a thorough understanding of the science of agricultural or food production, or the use of science to improve technologies available to agricultural or food production.

2018 – Feeding 9.6 billion people by 2050 – the effects of Pseudomonas flourescens L321 endophyte on enhancing barley crop yield

Teagasc colleges are strategically located and deliver a wide range of Level 5 and Level 6 courses in agriculture, horticulture, equine and forestry. The colleges also collaborate with a number of third level institutions in the delivery of Higher Level courses in agriculture and horticulture.
