Outlook 2026

Milk, lamb and beef prices all improved in 2025, while cereal prices declined.

Weather conditions through much of 2025 were favourable for grass based systems, slightly more variable in the case of tillage, but in general favourable for winter cereal crops in particular.

Input price movements were relatively limited in 2025 and costs overall remained relatively stable, albeit at a high level. Profitability improved substantially for grassland systems, but tillage margins remained under pressure in 2025.

In addition to a review of 2025, this year’s Outlook conference will include the short term economic outlook for 2026 for the major sectors, as well as an assessment of their environmental sustainability. The event will also include a focus on the economic performance of organic farms. We look forward to seeing you there.
