Close-to-nature management workshop 1
Join us on Thursday, April 23 from 10 am to 4 pm for a practical outdoor workshop, to explore forest biodiversity, learn its importance for forest resilience, health and vitality. You will learn how to carry out simple biodiversity potential surveys and how forest management can help enhance biodiversity to support a wide range of ecosystem services essential to society wellbeing.
In this specially designed outdoor workshop, you will learn about the range of flora fauna and fungi that inhabit or forests. We will explore connections between biodiversity and forest ecosystem functioning and what are the main forest characteristics that support high level of forest biodiversity. In particular during the workshop participants will train in new simple survey methodologies to help forest owners gage the biodiversity potential value of their forest and how this knowledge might inform future management in practice, to enhance biodiversity and resilience.
This workshop will take place in our in-forest marteloscope training facility at the Teagasc Oak Park Research Centre near Carlow Town.
