Grace Jones
Postdoctoral ResearcherResearch Interests
My interests include a range of forestry activities, mainly tree breeding operations (genetics), plantation management (silviculture), and wood processing.
Some of my work has included studies of stem form or wood anatomy, and I regularly use non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT) tools.
Now I am working on the ContinuFOR Project: Transformation of Sitka spruce stands to Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF).
My previous research was focused on radiata pine in New Zealand and Birch (and some Norway spruce) in Sweden.
Current Projects
- ContinuFOR Project - Transformation of Sitka spruce stands to Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF).
- SNS Funded Network “Value : Birch” increasing value creation from birch
Education
- PhD from Linnaeus University, Sweden (2022): "Birch stem and wood traits in genetic and silviculture trials in southern Sweden"
- BForSc (1st class Hons) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand (2016): "Factors which influence corewood stiffness in radiata pine"
