Current Projects

Shaping Bio

Commenced in September 2022, ShapingBio is an EU-funded project comprised of a consortium of 10 organizations spanning nine European countries, including Teagasc. The project's objective is to foster and expedite innovation within the bioeconomy while facilitating the dissemination of new knowledge across the EU and its member states. ShapingBio aims to create a better understanding of the bioeconomy innovation eco-system by providing a comprehensive mapping and analysis of initiatives, structures, policy instruments, and key gaps across the EU macro-regions and different sectors related to:

  • Policy and governance
  • Applied R&D and technology transfer
  • Collaboration (cross-sectoral)
  • Financing

Teagasc will contribute to all WPs, with a lead role in the Validation of mapping results. In addition to undertaking desk-based research, they will implement participatory research methods to assess the information needs of a wide range of stakeholders, identify current initiatives, structures and instruments that address these needs and to test and implement new solutions for improving the coordination and governance of the bioeconomy. Teasgasc is working with a range of stakeholders across Europe to shape the future bioeconomy across diverse sectoral, governmental and geographical levels.
