A national industry project, funded by Horse Racing Ireland. Featuring a co-creation process with horse racing actors; owners, trainers, breeders, jockeys, officials, welfare experts and veterinary experts, to develop an animal welfare strategy for the horse racing sector.
Using narrative methods for exploration and co-design workshops of co-creation, the lab gathered diverse viewpoints and collaboratively designed welfare actions and recommendations that reflected diverse expertise and were tailored to the different practice contexts where racehorses rest, live, train and work.
