The lab provides support periodically, from mapping actors and stakeholders to engage in the programme, to input to participatory appraisals of impact assessment.
The Signpost Programme supports the transition of Irish farming towards more sustainable farming systems and ensures that there are no unintended consequences of attempts to reduce agricultural emissions and that progress is made in both improving water quality and enhancing biodiversity. It acts as a trusted knowledge source and broker, facilitating the alignment of programme partners and the strengthening of existing and new programme collaborations.
There are two elements to the programme: A network of Signpost Farms, which act as experimental demonstration farms for the programme and sites for carbon sequestration measurements and the Signpost Advisory campaign, which engages with all farmers in moving towards more sustainable farming systems.
