Join us on Wednesday, 17 December at 7pm for a Sheep Seminar in the Teagasc Office, Kells Road, Navan, Co. Meath, C15 NR79.
Speakers & topics to be discussed include:
Caroline Garvan, Senior Superintending Veterinary Inspector from the Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine (DAFM) will explain the new rules on veterinary medicines that came into effect on December 1st, 2025, as part of Ireland’s national strategy to tackle antimicrobial & anti-parasitic resistance. These changes mean that a range of commonly used products now need a veterinary prescription, and all prescriptions will be issued and recorded through the National Veterinary Prescription System, or NVPS. This seminar will give sheep farmers a practical understanding as to how these new requirements will work on a day-to-day basis.
John Drum who is a practising vet with Blackwater Veterinary, Ballivor, Co. Meath will outline the signs of bluetongue & how it affects sheep. Given the very wet weather we have had in recent months John will also discuss the implications for liver fluke & the treatment & prevention options available.
