This event, jointly held by Dairygold Co-operative, the National
Dairy Council, Ornua and Teagasc, celebrates the success of Aidan and
Derval Kennedy and family, who farm near Cahir, Co. Tipperary.

The Kennedys operate a dairy farm on a scale that sets it apart from many
others. With a herd of 390 cows milked through a state-of-the-art 50-unit
rotary parlour, they manage a 132.5 hectare milking platform, along with
an additional 61 hectares, producing over 2 million litres of top-quality
milk annually.

The Kennedys excelled through a comprehensive judging process
that evaluated a range of the most important aspects of modern dairy
farming. These topics included:

• environmental sustainability
• animal health and welfare
• farm infrastructure
• hygiene standards
• soil and grassland management
• technical performance
• other important factors including advocacy and community engagement.

The Kennedy Farm was crowned the overall winner and winner of the Milking Hygiene and
Facilities award.
