Equine autumn training courses to return

October and November sees the return of short courses for horse breeders. Learn about the courses on offer.
Blended Learning Equine Breeding / Reproduction Course
This course is aimed at sport horse breeders aged 18 years of age or older. It is targeted at those embarking on breeding for the first time or those who simply want to improve or refresh their knowledge.
The course objectives are to provide information so that informed decisions can be reached to embark on a sport horse breeding enterprise, and to educate sport horse breeders in the fundamentals of equine breeding and reproduction husbandry.
The course will cover: the breeding programme; anatomy and physiology; reproduction; a practical workshop related to equine reproductive husbandry; and learning from a breeder.
Four half days (2.00-4.30pm) on October 11th, 18th, 25th and November 1st will be delivered online through Zoom, followed by a one full workshop day on November 22nd on farm.
Blended Learning Equine Foaling and Neonatal Health
This course is aimed at breeders, irrespective of breed, aged 18 years of age and older, wishing to learn more about foaling and neontal foal care. The objectives are to create awareness of all aspects of preparation for foaling, normal foaling, and recognising dystocias. This course will also provide information to assist breeders in managing the basic health care needs of neonatal foals, while recognising signs of illness.
The course will cover: foaling; routine care of the neonatal foal and potential illnesses; and practical aspects of foaling and young foal care. Two half days (2.00-4.30pm) on November 7th and 14th will be delivered through Zoom, followed by a one half-day workshop on November 28th on farm.
