Grazing infrastructure – a wise investment

Joseph Dunphy, Teagasc Grass10, and Dr. Paul Maher, PastureBase Ireland, covered practical topics like paddock size, pasture allocation, roadway maintenance and water infrastructure as part of the recent Improving Grazing Infrastructure on your Dairy Farm webinar.

This year, the dairy sector has seen reasonable input costs and an average income increase of around 30% is expected when compared to 2024. With that in mind, it’s a good opportunity to invest in improvements to grazing infrastructure.

Upgrading roadways, water systems and paddocks takes planning; it’s not something that happens overnight. The webinar, available to view below, outlined where best to invest time and resources, focusing on the long-term benefits like soil fertility improvements, labour efficiency and increased grass utilisation through the provision of increased access.
