Deadline to declare fertiliser closing stocks and ANC payments roll

Farmers are reminded of two significant announcements made by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon T.D. this week relating to closing stocks of fertiliser and the commencement of payments under the Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) scheme.

Minister Heydon confirmed that the facility to record fertiliser closing stocks is now available online and he encouraged fertiliser economic operators and fertiliser end users to log on to myagfood.ie and complete their closing stock return.

“The final date for submission of closing stock of fertiliser on farms and premises is Wednesday, 15 October 2025,” Minister Heydon commented.

“Declaration of closing stock is a straightforward process whereby farmers, or their agents, can log on to myagfood.ie. In cases where there are no stocks of fertiliser on hand, it is simply a matter of ticking a box to declare a nil stock return. Where there is fertiliser present, the declaration should include the type of fertiliser and the quantities being held,” Minister Heydon added.

ANC payments

Payments under the Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) scheme have commenced issuing to farmers. 85% advance payments totalling €183.2 million have issued to 86,985 farmers, Minister Heydon announced.

“The ANC scheme is crucial to farm families, and I know the importance of getting payments out to applicants as quickly as possible. The issuing of these payments in mid-September highlights our commitment to make payments to farmers at the earliest possible time.

“Payments will be visible in farmers’ bank accounts in the coming days, and my department will continue to process, as a matter of urgency, all remaining cases for payment as they meet scheme criteria,” Minister Heydon commented.

Minister Heydon also confirmed that his department is on track to facilitate payment of the 70% advance under the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS), and Complementary Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS) from 16 October 2025, and payments under the Eco-scheme from 23 October 2025.
