Webinar series to help farmers navigate Tax and TAMS

Higher farmgate returns and a buoyant cattle trade mean there’s scope for strategic investment on cattle farms this year. To help farmers navigate, Teagasc is running a series of webinars focusing on the topics of Tax and TAMS.

Commencing next Monday, September 22, the ‘Save Tax & Plan Smart Webinar for Drystock Farmers’ will feature Kevin Connolly, Farm Management Specialist and Pearse Kelly, Head of Drystock, Teagasc.

Commencing at 8pm, this webinar will focus on reducing your tax bill and keeping more of your hard-earned income.

Profit is the foundation on which tax is paid, and the webinar will delve into what actually classes as farm profit, while tips and advice on claimable elements for repairs and maintenance will also be discussed.

Accelerated capital allowances, stock relief and paying family members, pensions, and income averaging and farm succession tips will also be shared.

TAMS

Night two of the webinar series, scheduled for Thursday, September 25, again at 8pm, will feature Seamus Nolan, Scheme Support Specialist and Alan Dillon, DairyBeef 500 Programme Co-Ordinator. This time the attention turns to TAMS 3 and making the most of your investment.

Expert advice will be shared on applying, maximising your grant and avoiding common mistakes. Elements of the TAMS scheme, including Health & Safety, Slurry Storage, Solar, Animal Welfare & more, will be outlined on the night.

The TAMS scheme offers either a 40% or 60% grant aid, who qualifies for each will be outlined, along with what qualifies as a mobile or fixed investment for scheme eligibility, and with what documents you’ll need when submitting your application or drawing down payment.

This webinar will conclude with a live questions and answers session with TAMS experts who’ll take participants questions on the night.
