Labour savings: Small changes can make a big difference

The Teagasc Future Beef Programme has launched a new series of short videos, highlighting practical labour-saving tips and technologies for beef farmers.

The series, featuring Future Beef farmers from across the country, is available on the Teagasc YouTube channel with one video released weekly on social media over the coming weeks. Each video showcases simple, effective measures that can help farmers improve efficiency, reduce workload and enhance safety on beef farms

“Labour availability and workload are major challenges on many beef farms, particularly where farmers are also working off-farm, Teagasc Beef Specialist, Martina Harrington said when discussing the video series.

“This new video series demonstrates how small changes can make a big difference; helping farmers save time, improve safety, and maintain high standards of animal care,” Martina Harrington explained.

The new video series complements the upcoming Teagasc National Beef Conference, taking place on Tuesday, 18th November, which will explore key themes in labour efficiency, farm sustainability and profitability across the beef sector.

Farmers and advisers are encouraged to view the videos online and attend the Teagasc National Beef Conference to learn more about practical solutions that can be implemented on their own farms, along with an insight into global beef markets, tax planning and the generational renewal on Irish farms.

Earlier this year, Teagasc hosted a series of Tax and TAMS webinars to help farmers plan for investment at a time when beef prices have reached record highs. The new labour-saving series builds on that momentum, offering practical, low-cost ideas for investment that can improve work-life balance and long-term sustainability on beef farms.
