A DAFM Research Stimulus Fund project, Understanding and Facilitating Farmers’ Adoption of Technologies, co-designed an extension method with farmers, advisors and scientists to improve grassland management on farms.
Using multi-actor co-design workshops involving farmers, advisors and grassland scientists, AgILeTECH produced a step-by-step discussion group model – including goal-setting exercises, storyboards, and action plans – to help advisors and peer groups implement grass management tools. This co-created model is now used by Teagasc and industry advisors to support farm-specific and farmer-centred grassland management technology (practice, process) deliberation and uptake on Irish farms. The model was subsequently adapted to other key topics, on the initiative of advisors, because of its effectiveness in the field (Antimicrobial/Anthelmintic Resistance (SWAB); Farm Diversification (CattleDiversa); Time Management (BeSafe))
