CattleDiversa was an EPA-funded research project in Ireland focused on developing pro-environmental diversification tools for dairy and beef farms to reduce their environmental impact.
The project analysed pro-environmental diversification practices in Ireland, the UK, and New Zealand, explored farmer viewpoints and experiences, and conducted case studies of farmers that had considered and implemented changes. The goal was to promote climate smart agriculture by offering solutions that were both efficient for nature and appealing to farmers.
The AgILe Lab used research insights from farmers to adapt and co-design with advisors the AgILe tech method to address the topic of farm diversification, following the core AgILeTech farmer-centred extension approach. The scope of application was widened to be relevant to wide-ranging farmers in the Irish context, and those considering use of agroecological practices.
