Research Interests

  • Development of AI-driven models to simulate and optimise complex biological and agri-food systems.
  • Design and deployment of cost-effective sensing systems for real-time agricultural monitoring and decision support.
  • Integration of spectral sensing and AI-driven models for precision livestock farming and Industry 4.0 solutions.

Current Projects

  • Satellite-Driven Pasture Monitoring – Integrating satellite-derived data to enhance pasture growth estimation and improve the accuracy of grassland monitoring in Irish farming systems.
  • AI-Enhanced Pasture Modelling – Applying machine learning techniques to improve the performance and predictive capability of the MoSt model for grass growth and pasture dynamics.
  • Weekly Pasture Forecasting for Farmers – Running an operational pasture prediction system that delivers weekly grass growth forecasts to support on-farm decision-making in Irish dairy systems.
