With breeding season under way, Teagasc researcher, Peter Doyle joins Catherine Egan on this week’s Beef Edge podcast to give an update on the Derrypatrick herd.

A research herd of 80 suckler cows bringing all progeny to beef, Peter Doyle discusses the role of the herd, focused on examining the role of clover of animal genetics in a suckler beef system.

Discussed on the podcast is spring grass management, breeding plans and the performance of weanlings over the winter months when offered diets of either grass silage or red clover silage.
