  • Francis is a new entrant to dairying. He is farming 91 Ha of which 25Ha is rented.
  • In 2022 he milked 155 cows & he had 37 replacements
  • Francis spoke at the IGA Spring Conference in 2023 on the technologies that has future proofed his dairy farm.

Teagasc advisor Sandra Hayes outlines how to draw up a simple Fodder budget using the Pasturebase Ireland programme using data from Teagasc Tirlan Future monitor farmer, Francis Nolan in Kilkenny. Once you have measured your silage pits, counted those bales you can work out how much fodder you have for your herd and how long it will last for. An interactive programme that can be adjusted for silage results at a later date.
