Agricultural Catchments Programme
The Agricultural Catchments Programme (ACP) is a research and advisory initiative monitoring water quality and farming practices in six river catchments across Ireland. There are over 300 farmers taking part. It commenced in 2008 and is managed from the Teagasc Environmental Research Centre in Johnstown Castle. The current phase 5 runs from 2024 – 2027.
The same experiment has been run over the course of the programme in six catchments covering a range of landscape, soil and farming conditions. This experimental design makes the resultant ACP data invaluable in the context of meeting sustainable food production challenges.

Since 2008 the programme has amassed a unique environmental and weather data set including data form seven weather stations. The ACP continues to be a platform for training students and staff so creating a network of professionals within the wider agriculture and water sectors in Ireland and abroad.
