Let’s Talk Dairy – Body condition score at calving

On the latest episode of the Let’s Talk Dairy webinar series, Stuart Childs, Teagasc Dairy Specialist gives an insight into body condition score at calving in the Spring time. He also outlines what the ideal BCS bracket your cows should be in.

The best time to do the body condition score is from now up to the breeding season. Typically the objective of the body condition score is to be within a 3.0 and 3.5 window. Optimum results are achived within this. Ideally a score of 3.25 is the best.
