Demi Ryan

Research Officer – Mitigation Measures

Research Interests

I am currently working on the Agricultural Catchments Programme as a Research Officer for Mitigation Measures under the supervision of Dr Bridget Lynch.

My research to date has focused on sustainable bio-based alternatives to mineral agricultural fertilisers, working towards a circular nutrient economy. I studied the responses of soil microbial communities to the application of bio-based fertilisers recovered from various nutrient-rich waste streams.

Now my research is focused on evaluating available and emerging mitigation strategies aimed at reducing nutrient and sediment losses to water in Irish agriculture
