The TillageCare project will use existing resources, farmer networks and modelling to quantify the systems benefit of cover cropping and organic manures for carbon sequestration and nitrogen leaching. TillageCare will ensure that lifecycle analysis is underpinned with accurate spatial and temporal data that support industry stakeholders and contribute to the development of a roadmap to climate neutrality for Irish crop products.
The photograph was taken at the Oak Park Open Day 2025 where cover crops were grown next to a soil pit. The phacelia crop in flower was attracting several pollinators including this Bombus lucorum (Bumblebee).
