2027 Walsh Scholarships Call
Call for Proposals
The Teagasc Walsh Scholars Programme provides scholarships to graduates to undertake postgraduate research in agriculture, food, environmental science, agri-food economics, rural development, horticulture and other related disciplines. Walsh Scholars carry out their research with established research teams under the joint supervision of Teagasc and academic staff.
Teagasc invites joint proposals from full-time academic staff in third-level institutions, in collaboration with Teagasc researchers, under the 2027 Walsh Scholarships Call.
Proposals are invited across the Teagasc Research Programme, including Food, Animal and Grassland Production, Crops, Environment and Land Use, and Rural Economics and Development.
Deadlines and Procedure
All proposals must be submitted through SmartSimple. Paper, email or MS Word submissions will not be accepted.
Proposers should read the Guidelines for Proposers: 2027 Walsh Scholarships Call carefully before starting a proposal. The guidelines include information on eligibility, the submission process, assessment criteria, required documentation and final submission checks.
Proposers and higher education institutions should also review the Walsh Scholarships Terms and Conditions carefully before submitting a proposal. Higher education institutions will be required to confirm acceptance of the Terms and Conditions as part of the proposal submission process.
To submit a proposal through SmartSimple, proposers must be registered on the system. External proposers who require access, or whose organisation is not already registered, should email walshscholarships@teagasc.ie.
