Walsh Scholars PhD Opportunities
The Teagasc Walsh Scholars Programme is one of Ireland’s flagship doctoral training programmes, designed for ambitious graduates who want to undertake high-impact PhD study while developing as confident, capable and career-ready researchers.
Walsh Scholars complete fully funded, structured PhD and Masters programmes across agriculture, food, environment, climate, rural development and related disciplines. Scholars are embedded in active, multidisciplinary research environments across Teagasc’s national research centres and partner universities, studying topics that address real-world challenges with national and international relevance.
Walsh Scholars frequently highlight not only the quality of their PhD research experience, but also the wider opportunities for training, networking and development offered through the programme.
The 2026 intake of new students will:
