Visit Teagasc Forestry at the Tullamore Show

The ever-popular Tullamore Show will again include a special section, highlighting the Forest and Energy Sector, its innovations and its key players on Sunday August 10. The Tullamore show is now the largest one-day Agricultural extravaganza in Ireland with over 60,000 expected to attend this year. Forestry will again be well represented on the day.

The dedicated Forest and Energy Section has been a popular attraction in the show since 2005 and has been coordinated by the Teagasc Forestry Development Department.

Visit the Teagasc Forestry Marquee with forestry advice, VR walk and other activities!

Teagasc forestry advisors will be on hand to discuss all aspects of forestry especially in relation to forest creation and management of existing forests. Teagasc research staff will also be there to discuss the important applied projects that they are currently undertaking. On the day, there will be plenty of opportunities to engage with Teagasc, on its dedicated stand and explore the many interactive props and information boards that will be on display;

Visitors can interact with activities such as;

  • What type of forest or woodland you would plant if you had land?’. This should provide plenty of discussion and debate. All attendees are encouraged to participate.
  • Match the tree samples with their timber’, which always creates great interest.
  • Experience our ‘virtual reality forest walk’, where attendees can virtually walk through a forest as it matures.
  • Access the latest forestry leaflets and information, including fact sheets for those engaged in timber harvests.

Twenty-five stands in the Forestry and Energy village

The forest industry will be strongly represented with companies from the afforestation, management, harvesting and products sectors.

The Renewable Energy sector will also be well represented by companies from the biomass, renewable heating and solar energy sectors. Their presence highlights the interest in sustainable energy utilisation and production.

Something for everyone!

The Tullamore show will provide great day out for the family on Sunday August 10 and we look forward to welcoming you to the Forest and Energy Section, Rows W & X in the main Trade Area of the Tullamore Showground.
