William  is the 2019 Grassland Merit Award Winner for Grazing Infrastructure. William farms on heavy soils in Currow, Co. Kerry. William got this award as he has made significant progress in grassland on the farm over the past few years. He walks the farm over 50 times during the grazing season to assess pasture cover. There has been large improvements in soil fertility. In particular there has been significant investment in grazing infrastructure. Gaining access to grass with cows is a key priority for this farm. William has installed a huge amount of entrance/exit points into paddocks, developed a lot of spur roadways and placed water troughs in strategic locations throughout the farm.
