Crops and Machinery Management
This training will provide students with the latest technology, information and management skills necessary for a career in the crop and machinery industry.
Programmes:
The recommended training for someone seeking a career in the Crops and Machinery sector is to complete the:
- Teagasc Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture Programme plus the
- Teagasc Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture (Crops & Machinery Management)
These agriculture courses are currently under review. Content and structure may be subject to change following the review process.
Duration: The Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture is one year, and the Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture is one year.
Qualifications: These programmes are validated by QQI and and successful completion leads to:
- Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture Award (5M20454)
- Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture (6M20486).
Entry Requirements: View the Teagasc Course Entry Requirements here. Students must complete the Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture, or equivalent course to meet the entry requirements for the Advanced Certificate in Agriculture (Crops and Machinery Management). Applicants with relevant prior learning and/or life experience will also be considered. All applicants are required to hold a valid category W driving licence.

Candidates for the Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture (Crops & Machinery Management), in addition to successfully completing the Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture may be required to undergo a practical assessment and interview as part of the application process.

Gurteen Agricultural College, County Tipperary
Progression
Learners who successfully complete the Advanced Certificate in Agriculture may progress to the Farm Manager Apprenticeship providing they meet the employment criteria.
On successful completion of the programme students can progress through the higher education links scheme or advanced entry where possible. Please contact the relevant higher education institute for further information.
