Barry and Sharon are a husband and wife farming partnership. They run a flock of 150 mid-season lambing ewes with a mix of lowland and hill breeds producing approximately 1.5 lambs per ewe. There has been a big emphasis on improving the genetics within the flock in recent years in order to improve the value of the store lambs to be sold off the farm.

The land is a mix of hill and lowland grazing. The partnership have trialled reseeding with red clover and multi species mixes since converting to Organic farming in 2023 and the results of this can be seen during the event.

There has been a big emphasis also in recent years in improving the housing infrastructure on the farm with a new sheep house and dungsted currently being developed which will be demonstrated and discussed at the farm walk.

The farm walk will be held as part of Soil Health Week, which takes place from Monday, 21 to Friday, 25 September. As part of Soil Health Week, we’ll also demonstrate practical on‑farm soil health assessments and share the results of tests carried out by the farmer.
