Lost Principles, New Understandings – Practical Equine Nutrition, Microbiome & Behaviour
11 Sep 2026Venue Irish National Stud, Tully, Co. Kildare. Eircode: R51 AP20
A Lost Principles, New Understandings – Practical Equine Nutrition, Microbiome & Behaviour event takes place on Friday, 11 September from 10am – 4:45pm at the Irish National Stud, Tully, Co. Kildare, R51 AP20.
Equine health is closely linked to nutrition, with modern management practices often challenging the horse’s natural digestive system. Inappropriate diet formulation, excessive concentrates, and insufficient forage can disrupt gut bacteria balance, increasing the risk of colic, ulcers, laminitis, and metabolic disorders. Digestive imbalances can also influence behaviour, contributing to stress, irritability, and stereotypical actions, highlighting the importance of diets that support both physical health and natural feeding behaviour.
