Pilot Scale Food-Based Fermentation
A new initiative, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union under the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021–27, is exploring the development of a pilot-scale food bioprocessing facility at Teagasc Food Research Centre Moorepark.
This feasibility study will examine the technical and economic requirements for a facility that can support both precision fermentation (requiring higher containment standards) and more traditional food fermentation processes.
Engagement with a broad range of stakeholders will inform the projected demand and specifications. The final output will be a detailed business case defining the need, scale, and investment required for establishing this strategic pilot facility.
