Entries sought for ‘Safe and Healthy Work in the Digital Age’ awards

Do you use digital technologies on your farm? Then the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) ‘Safe and Healthy Work in the Digital Age’ awards may be of interest to you.

Designed to highlight and promote best practice and safe use of technology, Irish entries are now being sought by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), which is working with EU-OSHA.

The integration of digital technology is changing the farming workplace, with many innovations – such as the precision application of fertiliser or sowing of seeds; machinery automation; herd monitoring and management software; and enhanced communication technologies – all having a role to play.

For workers and employers, digital technology offers increased opportunities, but can also present greater challenges and risks in terms of safety and health. In recognition of this the ‘Safe and Healthy Work in the Digital Age’ awards aims to raise awareness of safety and health issues linked to use of technology and share best practice examples.

Who should apply?

Farmers who have made real improvements in the use and management of digital technologies and can demonstrate that related best practice strategies that promote and protect workers’ safety and health are being applied.

How to apply

The Irish leg of the Good Practice Awards is closing for entries on September 27, 2024. Full details, including evaluation criteria and the application form, can be accessed on the HSA website.
