European webinar on forest restoration takes place this week
Don’t miss the upcoming SUPERB project webinar on Friday, November 14, from 8:00 am to 11:30 am, where you will find out latest results and outputs from this innovative initiative.
The SUPERB project focuses on systemic solutions for the upscaling of urgent ecosystem restoration for forest-related biodiversity and ecosystem services. It is a €20 million project funded by the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme to enable transformative change and restore thousands of hectares of forest landscape across Europe. Teagasc is very happy to contribute to and promote this project, which is actively working to link the wealth of practical and scientific knowledge with action and to build a large multi-stakeholder network towards large-scale forest restoration.
The upcoming Superb webinar brings together leading experts from across Europe to discuss the evolution of forest restoration, innovative restoration methods, and the impacts on carbon, biodiversity, and timber supply. Furthermore, it will explore societal perceptions of forest restoration across Europe and the crucial role of stakeholder engagement.
Additional highlights include discussions on biodiversity credits, nature markets, the Restoration Marketplace, and the Forest Knowledge Gateway, offering valuable insights for landowners, practitioners, advisors, policymakers and funders alike.
The Forest Knowledge Gateway is a curated science- and practice-based knowledge online platform designed to support forest restoration, climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation and integrative forest management across Europe and beyond. Thoughtfully designed for four key forest stakeholder groups comprising the following.
- Landowners and practitioners
- Planners and implementers
- Policy actors
- Funders and investors
The platform guides you through Knowledge Pathways, offering a targeted synthesis of the most relevant information, resources, and tools to support your specific needs. The Knowledge Pathways, built around common barriers and enablers, serve as a living guidance tool for stakeholders across Europe
Finally, as part of the webinar on Friday, November 14, you will hear about a restoration case study in Poland, and the event will conclude with feedback and an open discussion.
