Looking to the New Year and our forestry events plan for 2026

The Teagasc Forestry Development Department is planning a busy 2026, packed with events and services to support forest owners and those considering planting, Liam Kelly and Frances McHugh, Forestry Development Department, tells us more.

First up will be forestry promotional events around the country incorporating our very popular Forestry clinics, where one-to-one support meetings with an experienced forestry advisor can be arranged by appointment. Whether you are an existing forest owner with a forest management question or are new to forestry and want independent advice on what’s involved in establishing a new forest, attending a Teagasc forestry clinic is a great first step.

Here is an initial outline of the 2026 Teagasc forestry events, with more events and further details added throughout the year:

  • January
    • Teagasc Forestry at the Stripe Young Scientist exhibition
  • January /February
    • Forestry collaborative promotional events incorporating forestry clinics

    • Reforestation events, including post storm reforestation

We will continue our comprehensive support to forest owners impacted by storm damage and diseases such as ash dieback.

Teagasc forestry will also provide support to a range of external promotional initiatives.
