Previewing the upcoming Poultry Meat Conferences

Teagasc Poultry Advisor, Rebecca Tierney previews the upcoming Poultry Meat Conferences on this episode of the Poultry Edge podcast.

Taking place on September 29 in the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan, and September 30 in Teagasc Moorepark, Cork, these conferences will see a number of speakers covering a variety of topics.

What to expect?

Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) representatives will provide an update on the latest information on the new Avian Influenza regulations.

Salmonella control and salmonella infantis are next on the agenda, with presentations from Declan Bolton, Teagasc, and Victoria Daunch, DAFM, who’ll share recent work in this area.

Tara Battersby from Agrihealth will wrap up this session with practical biosecurity tips for the control of pathogen transmission on Farm – an ideal time for a refresher on biosecurity as the high-risk period for Avian Influenza approaches.

After a networking break, Brian Coffey from the EPA will share the latest on the requirements for IPPC licensing in his presentation, ‘IED 2.0: What the New Industrial Emissions Rules Mean for Poultry’. And finally, Aonghus Lane from St David’s Poultry Team will provide tips and advice on how to be better prepared for heat stress, given the increased frequency of hotter summers and heatwaves.

Numerous companies and exhibitors will all be present on both days, so come along early to meet, chat and get the latest information on the upcoming regulatory changes, biosecurity and management tips.
