Sharing the good work of farmers at Bloom 2026

The actions Irish farmers take to protect nature, improve water quality and reduce emissions often struggle to reach or resonate with general public or urban audiences. To narrow this gap and aid in the translation of these sometimes complex messages, a Farming and Sustainability Stand will feature at Bord Bia Bloom 2026.

Each year, Teagasc, Bord Bia and the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine come together at Bloom to create an inspiring, informative and educational feature in the Food Village. This year’s event, taking place from 28 May to 1 June, will feature a focus on farming and sustainability.

Speaking ahead of the event which is set to attract thousands of visitors to the Pheonix Park, Dublin, Dr. Siobhán Kavanagh, Signpost Programme Communications and Engagement Specialist, said: “We will highlight the positive actions farmers take every day. Visitors will learn about the importance of healthy soils, clean water, hedgerows for wildlife and sustainable farming practices. It will also demonstrate how modern farming is using science, technology and innovation to improve environmental sustainability.”

Visitors to the event will have an opportunity to speak to representatives from the Teagasc Signpost Programme, Better Farming for Water Campaign and biodiversity researchers and specialists, to learn of the actions farmers are taking on the ground.

“We wanted to make this display as informative and engaging as possible to showcase the actions Irish farmers are taking on the ground,” Dr. Kavanagh added. “Visitors – both young and old – are invited to partake in an interactive learning experience, testing their knowledge on topics such as biodiversity, soil health, water quality, greenhouse gases and food production.”
