Students partake in Norfolk AgroChallenge

Four students are representing Ireland at the Europea AgroChallenges Competition, underway in Norfolk from June 24-25.

The Irish team consists of Mitch Cullen, Wexford and Ellen Drohan, Waterford who represent Kildalton College, and Eilís McGary, Offaly and Martin McKeon, Sligo who attend Gurteen College.

Hosted by EUROPEA UK at Easton College and the Royal Norfolk Show in Norwich, the competition which is part of Europea’s Intercollege Farming Championships has brought together 72 competitors from 18 European countries to take part in 18 agricultural challenges.

The competition is designed for students in agricultural education across Europe and tests a wide range of practical skills, knowledge and teamwork. Challenges include precision tractor driving and seed identification along with a range of other agricultural tasks.

Supported and guided by their coaches Tom Kavanagh, Kildalton College, and Niall Finnegan, Gurteen College, the Irish team faces into another set of challenges today, June 25, as they showcase their skills and knowledge on the international stage.
