Teagasc to host preview webinar ahead of major Sheep 2025 event
Sheep farmers across Ireland are invited to join a Teagasc hosted webinar on Thursday, June 5 at 8pm, offering an exclusive preview of what’s to come at Sheep 2025 – a major diary date for Ireland’s sheep sector.
The Sheep 2025 Open Day will take place on Saturday, June 21 at the Teagasc Sheep Research Facility in Athenry, Co. Galway, and promises to be a must attend event featuring technical demonstrations, expert presentations and practical insights for sheep producers nationwide.
To help farmers prepare and get the most from the event, the free live webinar will be chaired by Dr Philip Creighton, Teagasc Sheep Enterprise Leader. The session will offer an overview of the open day programme, covering flock health, forage and grassland management, and breeding strategies.
Webinar topics and speakers include:
- Event Overview – Michael Gottstein, Head of Sheep Knowledge Transfer, Teagasc,
- Health: Lameness and Hill Sheep – Dr Frank Campion, Teagasc Researcher,
- Forages and Grassland – Sarah Woodmartin, Teagasc Researcher,
- Breeding and Genetics – Dr Nóirín McHugh, Teagasc Researcher.
Sheep 2025 is organised jointly by Teagasc, Bord Bia, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, the Irish Farmers Journal, and Sheep Ireland. The event is sponsored by Irish Country Meats, with support from FBD, MSD, and Elanco.
