Teagasc webinar to celebrate International Women’s Day
Teagasc celebrated International Women’s Day with a live, in-studio panel event today, Tuesday, 10 March, featuring staff from across the organisation and an interview with a member of the Teagasc Authority.
Hosted by Joseph Day, College Teacher in Teagasc Kildalton College, there were contributions from Daniela Frietas, Food Researcher, Hui Xing, College Teacher and Lisa O’Toole, Business and Technology Advisor. They shared their journeys to, and in, their careers, wins, challenges and what ‘Give to Gain’, this year’s theme, means to them.
We also heard from Alice Doyle, Teagasc Authority member, who is the first female deputy President of the IFA talking about her career beginning in teaching, and now representing Irish farmers at the highest level.
Alan Phelan, Chief Operations Officer in Teagasc looked to the future of what makes a successful organisation and how Teagasc must continue to reinforce its commitment and sponsor initiatives that ensure female colleagues can thrive in Teagasc.
Valerie Farrell, Head of HR in Teagasc said; “It is great to see the continued progress in recognising and celebrating International Women’s Day. We now have more women in leadership positions, we are closing our gender pay gap, and male and female colleagues are working hard to develop a sector where men and women can flourish.”
