‘This is Beef Farming’ Photo Competition Winners Announced in Teagasc Grange
The ‘This is Beef Farming’ photo competition, run by Teagasc and kindly sponsored by FBD, highlighted the multiple things that make Irish beef farming great! The competition was open for entries in the run up to the BEEF2026 Open Day.
The competition had an adult category and a junior category for under 18-year-olds and attracted 160 entries. All the photos were displayed at the Teagasc BEEF2026 Open Day in Grange. The competition winners were presented with prizes by Maureen O Meara from FBD.
The photo competition winners were:
Adult Category Winner
Cian Wrynne, Mohill, Co. Leitrim had the winning photo in the Adult Category. His photo was captioned: “Golden Hour.” Cian explains that the photograph represents more than just a cow in a field. It reflects generations of work, care, and pride in producing quality beef, while maintaining the landscapes that make rural Ireland so special.

Adult Category Runner up
Seán Brett, Thurles, Co. Tipperary was the runner up in the Adult Category. His photo was captioned: “My Hereford cow North, standing proudly beside her first-born calf Skye in the golden light of an evening sunset.” Seán explains that this is an exceptional pair and it is amazing to get views like this every day at the farm.

Junior Category Winner
James Devins, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo was the Junior Category winner. His photo was captioned: “A quiet and powerful moment in nature, centred around a single cow standing calmly in an open field.” James explains that the image combines simplicity with natural elegance, capturing not only an animal in its environment but also the quiet beauty and serenity of the countryside.

The ‘This is Beef Farming’ photo competition was kindly sponsored by FBD. The overall winner in the adult category received €300 in FBD Hotel Vouchers, while the first runner-up in the adult category received €150 in FBD Hotel Vouchers. The overall winner in the junior (u18) category received €100 in FBD Hotel Vouchers.
