Updated ‘Supports for Farmers’ guide available

An updated guide, providing practical information on the supports, grants, schemes and services available to farmers, has been made available.

Produced by the Citizens Information Board and Teagasc, this booklet covers all the stages of farming life and describes farming responsibilities from both a business owner and an employer perspective.

The publication covers a wide range of topics including farming education and training, supports for young farmers, farming grants and schemes, social welfare supports, farm business management, taxation, succession planning and retirement.

As part of the National Ploughing Championships 2026, the Citizens Information Board and Teagasc welcomed Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary TD to launch the updated Supports for Farmers guide.

“The Supports for Farmers guide brings together trusted information in one place, helping farmers access the supports and services available to them throughout their farming journey. Together with AskCI, it provides another easy way for people to find reliable information when they need it,” Graham Long for the Citizens Information Board said at the launch.

Professor Frank O’Mara, Teagasc Director said: “This updated guide provides practical information for farmers at every stage of their farming career and signposts them to the latest supports, schemes and advisory services available.”

Minister Calleary acknowledged that farmers need clear, reliable and accessible information to help them make decisions at every stage of their farming lives, adding: “The updated Supports for Farmers guide is an excellent resource, bringing together information on grants, schemes, social welfare supports and succession planning in one place.”
