Visit Teagasc Forestry at Ireland’s Woodland Show 2026

Ireland’s Woodland Show, celebrating the many benefits of Irish trees and woodlands, takes place at the beautiful Woodstock Gardens & Arboretum, Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny, on Saturday and Sunday, August 29 and 30. The Teagasc stand will feature exhibits and information on forestry advisory services and applied research. Tom Houlihan, Teagasc Forestry Development Department, tells us more about this exciting event.

All things great about our woodlands

Ireland’s Woodland Show 2026, organised by the Irish Wood Producers, promises to be a valuable and informative experience. Taking place in the grounds of the magnificent Woodstock House, Gardens and Arboretum in Inistioge, the show will feature woodland talks, information stands, machinery and equipment displays, mobile saw demonstrations, exhibitions, artisan crafts, food stands and carnival family activities. The Celtic Chainsaw Carvers are again set to work their magic in a headline event. This will see national and international carvers creating some magnificent artistic pieces.

Teagasc will be on hand

Teagasc forestry staff will be on hand to extend a welcome at our stand during the two-day Ireland’s Woodland Show. Learn about some of our applied research covering key forestry themes. Why not engage with our forestry advisors, who will be available to address all your forestry queries, whether you have questions about forest creation opportunities, ongoing forest management or available support schemes. It is also a great opportunity to find out about our upcoming Teagasc forestry advisory and training events.

Explore forest creation and management options

With the new tree planting season imminent, it is well worth investigating the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Forestry Programme. This includes strong financial incentives for the variety of forest options available (known as Forest Types), each with its own silvicultural, environmental and practical objectives. There are planting options suitable for all farms and holdings, regardless of enterprise or scale. These include native woodland, agroforestry (combining farming and trees in the same fields) and the more commercially focused conifer and broadleaf options. There are also attractive options for planting smaller areas under the new Native Tree Area (NTA) Scheme.

This is a great opportunity to avail of comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information. With over 24,000 forest owners managing a diverse range of forest types, there will also be plenty of research-based advice on sustainable forest management, ongoing research projects and supports available to optimise the range of outputs achievable, according to forest owner objectives.

We look forward to meeting you there!
