Topics covered include greenhouse gas emissions, water quality, biodiversity and soils. Click here for upcoming webinars and registration

Signpost Series: Boosting Biodiversity on Farmland

16th May 2025

On this episode of the Signpost Series, host Cathal Somers, Teagasc Water Quality Specialist was joined by Dr Saorla Kavanagh, Teagasc Research Officer in Farmland Biodiversity to discuss Boosting Biodiversity on Farmland: What does good look like?. A questions and answers session took place at the end of the webinar which was facilitated by Dr. Catherine Keena, Countryside Management Specialist, Teagasc.

NZAGRC-Teagasc Joint Webinar: Does seasonality affect how much much methane an animal produces?

12th May 2025

Understanding methane emissions from cows grazing seasonal pasture is important for accurate accounting of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. Researchers from Ireland and New Zealand are working together to determine how the stage of lactation and pasture species, management and seasonal growth effect base methane emissions, and how these factors influence cows’ responses to methane reducing technologies.

NZAGRC-Teagasc Joint Webinar: The challenges of managing soil carbon on agricultural peatlands

9th December 2024

A surprisingly high share of Ireland and New Zealand’s carbon dioxide emissions come from a tiny proportion of soil – peat bogs that have been drained to support productive agriculture. As part of a NZAGRC x Teagasc webinar, Louis Schipper of the University of Waikato, New Zealand and Owen Fenton of Teagasc discussed the latest research surrounding peatlands and greenhouse gases.

Signpost Series: Agricultural Environmental Research in East China
