Watch: Setting the scene for BEEF2026
The BEEF2026 Open Day will take place on Wednesday, 1 July, at Teagasc Grange, Dunsany, Co. Meath. Centred on the theme of ‘Driving Sustainable Performance’, the event will feature the latest research, technology and innovation in beef cattle farming, with a focus on improving profitability, productivity and environmental efficiency.
Dr Paul Crosson, Teagasc Beef Enterprise Leader, said the beef sector in Ireland and internationally has undergone extraordinary change in recent times, with prices and farm-level profitability reaching unprecedented levels.
“This improved position has greatly renewed confidence in the sector. But what is the longer-term outlook and what are the implications for all of our beef farm enterprises?
“All of these developments and what they mean for your system and future profitability will be explored in depth at the Grange Beef Open Day taking place at Teagasc Grange on Wednesday, July 1,” Dr Crosson added.
Dr Emily Roskam, Teagasc researcher, said the theme of BEEF2026 is driving sustainable performance. To do this, she added: “We will showcase the latest research, technology and practical advice to help beef farmers improve profitability, productivity and environmental efficiency. See live demonstrations showing how better housing, nutrition, grazing management, clover integration, soil fertility and animal health can work to deliver stronger animal performance and higher returns.”
Visitors to BEEF2026 will also have the opportunity to discover how the Commercial Beef Value can boost profitability, with live drafting of in-spec finished cattle and meat industry representatives explaining exactly what makes a more valuable animal.
Catherine Egan, Teagasc Beef Specialist, said BEEF2026 will have something for everyone, including suckler beef producers, dairy calf-to-beef farmers and those with growing and finishing cattle.
“There’ll be technologies to see and interactive discussions on the day. We will also be featuring a number of our major programmes under the Signpost Programme, the Future Beef and DairyBeef 500.”
Additionally, BEEF2026 provides an opportunity to engage with Teagasc Advisors, researchers, specialists and education staff.
