Westmeath / Cavan / Monaghan Advisory Region

On behalf of Teagasc I would like to welcome you to the Westmeath Cavan Monaghan Advisory Region section of the Teagasc website. This section gives you full up to date information on our Region including our staff, advisory Programme and Services, including our educational programmes. It has links to local and public events and courses. There are also links to other sections within Teagasc. Our advisors have the back up of Teagasc Research and through an in service training programme delivered by Teagasc specialists, are kept fully briefed on all new emerging technologies relating to farming.

Our offices are situated in Mullingar, Ballyhaise and Monaghan town. There are 20 advisers supported by an administrative team of 5. Specialist advice is available in all the main farming enterprises. We service approximately 2,600 clients in the Region. Our advisers host 30 discussion groups facilitating over 450 farmers in beef, sheep and dairy enterprises.

We provide a comprehensive range of advisory services:

  • One to one advice to farmer clients
  • Farm visits
  • Office and telephone consultations
  • Discussion groups for dairy, beef and sheep farmers
  • Access to Future Beef farms, Dairy BEEF500 farm, and Signpost farms in the Region
  • Events – farm walks, seminars, open days
  • Monthly Newsletters and bi-monthly Todays Farm magazine
  • Scheme application and support

BISS, CRISS ECO & ANC assistance and advice

Facilitate ACRES, TAMS 3, SCEP, BWS, KT, SIS and other schemes as required

In the Region we also offer options for educational progression.  Distance Education course is open to non-agriculture award holders (level 6 or higher) leading to Level 6 Specific Purpose Award in Farm Administration (the ‘Green Cert’).
