Part time Horticulture courses
At Kildalton College we offer a range of modules on a part time basis. These QQI accredited modules are ideal for people who want to study horticulture but cannot commit to a full time course. Students can opt to study one or as many modules as they wish from the level 5 course and use these to build a full a Level 5 Certificate in Horticulture over time. Many of the part-time and component modules run from September to May (28 weeks) with some running from September to December. All modules consist of theory and hands on practicals.

There will be an introduction day for all component awards on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 from 10am to 1pm.
Students may wish to complete level 5 component awards over a number of years with the intention of completing a full Level 5 Certificate in Horticulture. To successfully complete a full level 5 course in Kildalton College, students must complete the following modules. Please note, students may have completed other modules on different courses that may count towards QQI credits in the Certificate in Horticulture. Kildalton Horticulture Level 6 Component Awards 2026/27
These QQI modules are available for those who have already completed a full Level 5 Certificate in Horticulture and want to further develop their horticultural knowledge but cannot commit to a full time course. These modules may also suit those who have been working in the horticultural industry for a minimum of 3 years. These component awards help students build on the horticultural knowledge they already have and develop their management knowledge and skills to further develop their competencies in the horticultural industry. Modules are offered over a 16 week period from January to May each year. Students will attend between 3.5 hours or a full day per week depending on the module.

Please note: applicants for level 6 modules must have a level 5 Certificate in Horticulture or have relevant work experience within the industry and complete an interview as part of the application process. A reference from employer may also be requested.
