Project Title: Identification and evaluation of innovative teaching approaches which enhance agricultural student’s engagement in classroom settings

Project Description: 
The purpose of this study is to identify current and potential teaching methodologies which can enhance agricultural student’s engagement in classroom settings. Through the use of observation, focus groups, key-informant interviews and surveys this study will analyse the ways in which classroom engagement can be optimised. The four main areas which will be looked at in this study are the; Student, Teacher, Environment and Course Design. Kildalton Agricultural College will be used as a case study for the observation of classes and also focus groups. The key-informant interviews will consist of a mixture of agriculture teachers, officials from the Department of Education & Skills and faculty of teaching and learning departments at Universities and/or Institutes of Technology.
