Grass growth rebounds in 2025
As measured by farmers using PastureBase Ireland, grass production increased to an average of 13.2 tonnes dry matter per hectare in 2025, a considerable rebound on the quantities grown in 2024 and 2023.

Resistance update on 2025 harvest samples of grass weeds
As part of the 2025 Teagasc resistance monitoring programme, growers/advisors submitted grass weeds suspected of herbicide resistance or considered difficult to control. Seed populations were grown in a glasshouse and tested with ACCase and ALS herbicides at the two- to four-leaf stage. New research collaboration to advance rapid feed nutritive value analysis
A new industry-supported research collaboration between VistaMilk Research Ireland Centre, Teagasc Grassland Science Department, Goldcrop and FBA Laboratories has been launched to develop animal feed analysis techniques tailored specifically to Irish pastures and silages.
