Project Title: Develop and test proxy indicators for farm profitability and efficiency measurement of Knowledge Transfer uses with beef, sheep, dairy and tillage farms
Project Description:
Knowledge transfer within discussion groups has been shown to help farmers benchmark and thus improve their farm performance. My research objectives are to establish what indicators and rules of thumb are currently used by farmers and their advisors, to identify the traits of proxy indicators that make them suitable for use by farmers, to develop a methodology for choosing suitable proxy indicators of farm profitability and efficiency and to develop an approach for testing them at farm-level. I plan to use a co-creation approach to develop a menu of useful proxy indicators that farmers can use to assess their farm progress or level of success.
